Welcome World

Welcome to Heritage Food Network

This is a blog created by me,  Chef Monty Austin.  After working for over thirty years as a Chef and Executive Chef I wanted to share my thoughts and knowledge about food.  I always thought that when I knew everything about food I would realize just how much I didn't know about food!

So that I am semi retired, I get to spend as much time as I want researching as many Cultures and there Heritage with food as the good Lord gives me on this earth.

So about ten years ago I started Heritage Food Network.  It is a not for profit organization dedicated to bringing food back to the table,  in homes all over the world.  Our culture and heritage of food is rapidly disappearing off this planet.  Fast food and convince foods are taking over our lives at an incredible rate.  Our children and grandchildren are never going to know about their heritage or culture because they don't spend time in the kitchen with parents and grandparents anymore.  Video games and surfing the Internet have become a priority.  If you want to spend time together without the disruption of all the distraction available to everyone you have to schedule it.

My dream is to get the family back in the kitchen together.  Cooking and eating healthy and delicious meals together.  Learning about their culture and heritage.  They can be inspired to learn more about their history of their ancestors.  Food can be a great teacher.  If you let it.  Give it a chance.  You might be surprised to see how much of a difference it can make in your homes.

I also pray to God that this time will also be a time of worship to God for all that we have.  Praise Him and our Savior Jesus Christ.  Allow Him into our homes.  Let him heal us all.  We all have struggled at some point in our lives.  While we are cooking we can comfort each other.  Teach our youth how to overcome the temptations that they will surely face in these last days.

So,  let's get together and cook.  Teach each other.  Love each other.  Reach out to others that might be suffering from a hurt, hang up or habits that they can't seem to overcome.  We can eat wonderful foods from our heritage and culture. Explain the hardships most families have had at overcome through Faith and prayers.

God bless all of your families. May we preserve the heritage and culture of food and strengthen our families at the same time.
